Arkhangai province, famed for its ancient volcanoes, hosts Tsenkher hot springs, situated 27km south of Tsetserleg town. Flowing at 1860 meters above sea level, the hot springs’ water remains uncontaminated by soil water due to its high temperature and pressure, gushing at 10 liters per second. Renowned for its therapeutic properties, particularly on joint and nervous system ailments, the springs boast a composition rich in sodium carbonate, hydrocarbonate, sulfate, fluorite, and hydrogen sulfide. Amidst lush wooded surroundings, yurt camps offer baths with slightly cooler temperatures for travelers, both indoor and outdoor. The curative waters and scenic beauty, framed by wooded mountains, provide an idyllic setting for relaxation, with nighttime baths under the starry sky being a popular activity.
Elsen Tasarkhai, nestled within the Mongol Els sand dunes, extends 80 km long and 5 km wide across Uvurkhangai province. Situated 280 km west of Ulaanbaatar and 80 km east of Karakorum, this area boasts a unique blend of sand dunes, hills adorned with rare bushes, and a small forest by a river. Locally known as Duut mankhan (Singing sand), it offers opportunities to experience nomadic life in traditional Mongolian gers, camel rides, and serene walks amidst stunning nature. Wildlife such as Maral stag (elk), wolves, deer, and foxes populate the area. Elsen Tasarkhai, meaning “an isolated torn-off piece of sand,” offers a glimpse of real desert amidst lush green steppes. Visitors can conveniently combine their trip with a visit to Khogno Khan Mountain, just 18 km north, to explore the ruins of Erdene Khamba Monastery. Tourist camps provide horse and camel rides, making this destination easily accessible within a day’s drive from Ulaanbaatar.

Today marks the beginning of your Central Mongolia adventure, starting with the Mini Gobi Mini Gobi offers a tranquil contrast with its serene landscapes. Spend the afternoon ascending the sand dunes, capturing the breathtaking views. Absorb the serene beauty around you! Although not part of your package, we highly encourage you to undertake a Bactrian camel ride. The latter part of the day is yours to wander freely. You may encounter nomadic herders tending to their goats, sheep, and horses, offering a glimpse into their simple yet enchanting lifestyle in this tranquil enclave.
Depart Elsen Tasarkhai and embark on the scenic drive to the Orkhon Valley. Enjoy the changing landscapes and glimpses of nomadic life. Settle into your ger. Visit the Orkhon inscriptions, significant ancient stone monuments that mark the legacy of the Turkic and Mongol empires. Hike to the Orkhon Waterfall, also known as Ulaan Tsutgalan, and learn about the geological forces that shaped the valley's landscape. Participate in a cultural exchange session with local nomadic families. Learn about their lifestyle, traditions, and the modern challenges they face.
Continue the journey to Tsenkher Hot Springs. Stop at Tuvkhun Monastery, a significant religious site nestled in the mountains.
